Pig farming is one of the Group's most important activities, encompassing several narrowly specialized farms, from the reproduction phase to fattening, distinguishing pigs raised on Žito Group farms from most pigs raised on farms in the Republic of Croatia and guarantees the domestic origin of pork. The Group's livestock farming is directly linked to crop production and premium animal feed Vitalka production. 175,000 fattening pigs are raised on the Group's farms annually, making Žito the second largest producer in Croatia. High-quality genetics, balanced nutrition, and the expertise of the Group's employees result in economic efficiency in production, with a high emphasis on environmental care and animal welfare.
Klisa
Klisa Farm is the newest farm in the Žito Group system, opened in April 2025. The farm is fully automated and uses the latest video surveillance technology, automatic feeding and ventilation systems, and top animal welfare standards that exceed regulations. It has a planned capacity of 9,000 fattening pigs with an annual fattening of 25,200 pigs.
Stari Seleš
The Stari Seleš pig farm is a nucleus farm for the production of gilts. It was built with an emphasis on animal welfare and high ecological standards in a fully controlled production process. The farm has a capacity of 920 sows and annually produces 8,500 top-quality gilts.
Lipovača
The Lipovača farm is a breeding farm with a maximum capacity of 610 sows. Annually, 18,300 weaned piglets are produced on the farm. The farm has the most modern automatic dry-feeding system.
Orlovnjak
Farm Orlovnjak is a reproductive farm with a capacity of 1350 sows. The farm produces 44,550 weaned piglets annually.
Velika Branjevina
The Velika Branjevina farm is a reproductive farm where 850 sows of Topigs-Norsvin genetics are housed. The farm produces over 25,500 weaned piglets annually. It also has a feedlot with a capacity of 3,300 fattening places and a yearly production of 10,560 fattening pigs.
Forkuševci
Farm Forkuševci is a reproductive farm that houses 1,900 sows of Topigs genetics, with an annual production of over 55,100 weaned pigs. The farm has a high SPF health status. Sows are fed with an automatic liquid feeding system. The farm also has a feedlot with a capacity of 3,500 feedlots and an annual production of 11,200 fattened animals.
Veliki Otok
The Veliki Otok pig farm is located near Koprivnica. It has 1,350 sows and an annual production capacity of 41,800 piglets. In addition, the farm has 9,500 fattening places, and more than 30,400 fatteners are produced annually. In 2020, investments were made in the farm's infrastructure and technological improvement, with an emphasis on animal welfare and environmental protection.
Magadenovac
Near Donji Miholjac, in the region traditionally known for pig farming, is the pig farm Magadenovac. The farm has a capacity of 20,000 fattening pigs and annually fattens 64,000 pigs.
Lužani
Farm Lužani is intended for fattening pigs up to 120 kg. On the farm, which has a capacity of 17,500 fatteners, 56,000 pigs are fattened annually. The farm has a modern automatic liquid feeding system, which allows maximum control and nutrition safety in all production stages.
Slaščak
Farm Slašćak is intended for fattening pigs up to 120 kg weight. 42,000 pigs are annually fattened on the farm. The farm has a modern automatic liquid feeding system, allowing maximum nutrition control and safety in all production stages.
Meat from Croatian Farms
Pig farms of the Žito group bear the label “Meat from Croatian farms”, which represents a symbol in a voluntary labeling system implemented by the Croatian Agriculture and Food Agency to clearly and unambiguously inform consumers about the origin and established quality of fresh domestic meat and meat products in the Republic of Croatia. This is a guarantee of the domestic origin of the pork and its systematic control and quality, as well as the production process, which takes place entirely within the borders of the Republic of Croatia.
